Lithium Iron Phosphate (Lithium Ferro Phosphate) Batteries are enhanced in safety and thermal stability compared to a normal Lithium ION Batteries. Li-Phosphate offers good electrochemical performance with low resistance. This is made possible with nano-scale phosphate cathode material. The key benefits are high current rating and long cycle life, besides good thermal stability, enhanced safety and tolerance if abused. Hence these batteries are often used in electric motorcycles that need a long lifecycle and significant safety.

Watt Hours and Amp Hours are units of Electric Charge in Batteries. We know that all the appliances and equipment’s power consumption is denoted in Watts. Example an LED Bulb that consumes 10 Watts.

The watts multiplied by hours will gives us the Watt Hour. 10 Watts x 2 Hours = 20 Watt Hour.

Formula to calculate Watt Hour (Wh) from Amp Hours (Ah) is

Watt-hours = Amp-hours * Volts

Example: A battery rated 3.2V at 6000mAh (or 6Ah) is 19.2 Wh

3.2*6 = 19.2 Wh

Amp Hours are used to mention the capacity of a Batteries. For small batteries it will be in mAh and for larger ones it will be in Ah. Batteries are available at many voltage and Ah values.

The formula to calculate the Amp Hour (Ah) of a battery is

Amp-hours = Watt-hours / Volts

Example: A battery rated 3.2V and 19.2 Wh

19.2/3.2 = 6 Ah

Watt-hours acknowledges a battery’s voltage and amp-hours ignores it. As long as your units are consistent, either measure will work.
