Lithium Ferro Phosphate LiFePO4/LFP Battery/Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery is a lithium-ion battery with the Battery Chemistry of Lithium Iron Phosphate LiFePO4 as the cathode material. LiFePO4 batteries are trending now because of its long cycle life, excellent operating performance and wide operating temperature.

Lithium Ferro Phosphate is safer compared to Lithium Ion batteries, hence it is gaining popularity in the electric vehicle industry. As the cathode material is Iron it is safer to the environment too. Iron is also available in abundance and not a rare minerals like Cobalt, Nickel, Manganese that are used in NMC Chemistry batteries. The size of lithium ferro phosphate battery also spreads out the heat by itself due to its size and doesn’t heat much quickly compared to Lithium-Ion Battery. A BMS also monitors the battery temperature for its safer operating range, hence LiFePO4 operates at better temperature.

What is the difference between Solar Grade and EV Grade Batteries?

Solar Grade Batteries are 1C Rated, means we can draw exact rated capacity of the battery (6000mAh or 6A). It is suitable for low power loads like Lights, Low power consumption devices.

EV Grade are used for high power loads like motors, etc. 3C Rating means, we can draw 3 times the power of the rated capacity of the battery (6000mAh x 3 = 18000mAh or 18Amps of current on a single battery). Hence it is used in Electric Vehicles.
